2012 Favourites

Is it too late for a 2012 retrospective post, given we're two weeks into 2013? I also said I probably wouldn't do one, mostly because I moved from Tumblr to Blogspot in 2012 and didn't have a full year's worth of content yet. but! I realized I could look back on a lot of non-beauty 2012 things too. I think usually people do a monthly favourites post? Here's some of my favourite things from last year (in the most random order possible):

butter London polishes
Due to a really awesome Coterie sale, I was finally able to indulge in a longing for butter London nail polish that I had nursed for quite a while. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a slippery slope, because now I know for myself that it is a fantastic formula with some very unique shades and I want more. For my birthday/Christmas, a very sweet friend gifted me with several of my most wished-for shades, so look forward to more butter London swatches soon!

LUSH BB Seaweed
One of my most favourite masks ever, I fell head over heels for this little pot of nourishing seaweed from LUSH. I am trying out other LUSH masks at the moment, but I have a strong feeling none of them can top how freshened and healthy my skin felt after using this one.

Wreck-It Ralph
You have no idea how excited I was about this movie when I first saw the trailer. Your favourite video game characters having a life outside of the game? Beloved villains in a support group? Um yes please. I loved everything about it and you bet I will be buying a copy when it is released. It has done so well in theatres that it's believed Disney will soon confirm a sequel. Graduating
It is an awesome feeling to graduate. I wish I could say that I am leaving behind the life of studying, presentations, excruciating lectures, and working with people I hate, but we all know going through all of that is just prep for what you'll face in your professional career LOL. Still, it'll be nice to actually make money instead of paying it out to tuition!
Swatching my nail polish collection
Swatching all my polishes has been a project in the back of my brain for a while, and I finally got around to it. I'm quite pleased with my current system and can say that it has definitely helped me with picking out colours for nail art! I always swatch a new polish on a stick and add it to the ring before tucking it away in my drawer; I actually look forward to it, believe it or not ಠSnowflake nails
Although I've previously used nail stamps, stickers, sponges, and dotting tools to add to a mani, this was my first time drawing a freehand design. I was super pleased with how it came out and a lot of people liked it too! A very quick tutorial is in the works to demonstrate that it is really easy to do. Super awesome kpop
I bet you are thinking of the insanely catchy Gangnam Style, but no. One of my favourite kpop groups, Big Bang, released Fantastic Baby early in 2012 and I still can't stop listening to it, whether it's in Korean or Japanese. The video is also super boss (former kings breaking free of their respective prisons, supposedly?) and unexpectedly caused me to develop a bias for their rapper TOP (dat aqua hair, sorry Taeyang). Perhaps I should start rating products on a scale of 0 to Fantastic Baby?
Let's all take a moment to admire Dara's perfect pink hair. I have been putting off a makeup look inspired by this video for forever, let's hope I get around to it this year. Favourite products that I haven't gotten around to posting yet but seriously I will
  • Marcelle BB Cream
  • Marcelle Essentials Soothing Cleansing Water
  • L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
  • Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream
  • Chanel Ombre Contraste in Notorious

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! I do my best to reply to all of them within 1-2 days, especially if there is a question. Please be aware that comments containing links may be edited to remove the links or not approved at all.
