Clinique A Different Nail Enamel Summer 2013 - 2/2

Just as with part one of my Clinique summer nail polish swatches, this bunch has a mix of shades I really loved/weren't my taste. Starting off with one of my favourites of this collection:

Splish Splash is a medium blue creme that is opaque in two coats. It's just bright enough to wear in spring/summer and subdued enough to be perfect for fall/winter as well. This had great application and I will be wearing it again and again.

My closest match is L'Oreal Colour Riche Jet Set To Paris, which is a touch darker and less saturated.

Strappy Sandals is a metallic silver that applies well enough, but is probably identical to any number of silver foils; I know for sure it is a slightly streakier dupe for my Orly Dazzle. I would hesitate to recommend buying this one for $18 when there are a lot of similar ones out there, unless your skin is sensitive to nail polish. (The metallic polish is bouncing off light from my lamp like crazy, sorry! :x)

Hula Skirt is a light, grassy green, opaque in two coats. I really like this breezy green, and it's actually unique in my current collection because all of my greens lean a little blue.

In the first photo, you can see evidence of my struggle with using a non-quick dry top coat from the smushing of my index fingernail :x Thank goodness for angled photos that make it a little less conspicuous!

70° and Sunny (or 21° and Sunny for those of us on the metric system) is a super bright, sunny yellow. This shade reminded me of marigolds or sunflowers (it reminded bf of mustard, lol). Although opaque in two coats, 70° and Sunny was streaky and a little more challenging to apply than its sisters, but yellow polishes in general have this problem.

Direct natural light
This is one of those polishes that I hated on me while I was wearing it, but when I look back at the photos it doesn't look too bad! It's definitely a look-at-me shade that would really complement a summer tan.

Overall, I really enjoyed the fun, summery colours Clinique offered up in this LE collection. At $18, I would probably prefer to buy a butter London polish instead, but for those that are allergic to most polishes this could be a steal. One thing that surprised me though, is that these polishes (and the accompanying base/top coat) have a very strong smell-- stronger than I'm used to, actually. So although this is made for sensitive skin, sensitive noses may suffer a bit.

Which shades were your favourites?
